I’ve always been overweight. I’ve also always wanted to lose weight. I got sick and tired of walking around the park and being completely drenched in sweat. I knew if I didn’t make a change, it probably would have put me in the hospital. Every doctor I went to said, “Hey, let’s talk about your weight,” and that just made me feel horrible about myself. I was scared for what the future was going to hold.
A defining moment of mine came when I was in high school and I got stuck in the back seat of my friend’s little car — I had a lot of trouble getting out. My friends thought it was hilarious, but it was one of the worst days of my life.
So, I made some life changes. I completed the Insanity program and started going to a gym. I started buying my own groceries after studying what was good to eat and what wasn’t. Now, I feel like a new man! Honestly, it’s almost like I’ve been reborn. I’m so thankful that I took a leap of faith and made a positive health change for myself.
I’m racing this year to put an even bigger emphasis on my weight loss. My goal is to inspire people, to show that anything is possible if you set your mind to it! The Reebok Spartan Race will show the world that a man that was almost 300 pounds can complete any challenge if he puts his mind to it!
